The Nature's Real Estate Program was created by Carly Kuppers (Winnipeg REALTOR®) in partnership with the Manitoba Forestry Association in 2018. For every home sold, between 20-50 trees are planted in Manitoba soil. Our goal is to make Manitoba greener through the planting of trees. With properties sold, new REAL ESTATE is created for many animals in Manitoba as well. Natural habitats are being restored and climate change addressed through the simple, planting and caring of trees.
Since 2018, we have held 6 tree planting events and planted over 4200 seedlings & larger stock in Manitoba with the help of our volunteers. We look to collaborate locally (both urban & rural) to find public spaces that would benefit from reforestation, shelter, etc.
In 2021, the Nature's Real Estate Program purchased 16 fruit trees for a healing garden on Birdtail Sioux Dakota First Nation. The healing garden, honouring survivors of the residential school systems, held its grand opening in September.
A small tree plant of 500 red pine seedlings was organized during National Forest Week (Sept 19-25) near Sandilands Forest Discovery Centre just outside of Hadashville, Manitoba. A special thank you to the province of Manitoba and the Manitoba Forestry Association for helping assist in our event!
